Holiday apartment in Sint Nicolaasga for active and relaxing days

It Fryske Gea manages the remaining 18 hectares of Wilhelmina-oard mainly as woodland for walking and nature conservation. This also makes the area an interesting destination for anyone who enjoys exploring on foot. There are figures along the Kabouterpad; the signs beside them tell a story and sometimes include an activity. Fishing is available in the ponds at Outdoorpark Friesland. The big-game pond contains fish weighing more than 20 kilograms; a minimum age of 16 applies to this pond.

Golf can also be specifically associated with Sint Nicolaasga. Golfpark Sint Nyk is located on the edge of Sint Nicolaasga. It includes an 18-hole course designed in 1990 by Alan Rijks and Paul Rolin. The driving range and practice greens are free of charge and open to everyone. At Sint Nyk, Hollandsche Golfschool also offers private and group golf lessons. This allows you to take different priorities into account when choosing your holiday apartment, without having to limit yourself to just one type of holiday.

Churches, architectural history and De Oorsprong

The H. Nicolaaskerk is open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. from April to September 2026 for sightseeing, personal prayer or quiet reflection. The Nicolaaskerk in Sint Nicolaasga is a neo-Gothic cross basilica dating from 1887, designed by the Frisian architect Jan Doedes van der Weide. A Lourdes grotto was created behind the Nicolaaskerk in 1933.

De Oorsprong was built in 1885. The east wing has been preserved in an authentic condition and is still in use. The site was created in connection with a breeding programme intended to ensure the preservation of the Friesian horse. The annual stallion show at the riding arena of Paardensportvereniging De Oorsprong in Sint Nicolaasga presents Friesian stallions.

Frisian events with their own character

The annual Sint Nykster Merke begins on the first Thursday in September and lasts for three days. Since 1950, the Allegorische Optocht has passed through the centre of Sint Nicolaasga. Both events provide the village with established cultural landmarks. If you would like to plan your trip around such dates, they offer clear points of reference in the calendar.

Between lakes and vineyard

Jachthaven Sint Nicolaasga lies between the Tjeukemeer and De Grote Brekken. This location complements the activities on land with a clear connection to the water. Wijngaard De Heidepleats adds another regional feature: its vineyard covers just under 2 hectares and is planted with 5,500 vines.

Choosing the right location for your trip

When choosing a holiday apartment in Sint Nicolaasga, you can first consider which of these themes should shape your stay.
