Tynaarlo combines village scenery, traces of cultural history and varied trails in the surrounding area. When choosing your holiday apartment in Tynaarlo, your preferred way of spending the day is a useful point of reference: you can explore the village’s history, plan hikes of different lengths and discover the landscapes around the Drentsche Aa.

Several specific details stand out in the village landscape. The bus shelter at Dorpsstraat 53 is one of the few surviving examples of street furniture from the post-war reconstruction period in Drenthe. At the junction of Smeerveenweg and Schoolstraat is a large triangular brink, or village green, where old oak trees and younger lime trees grow. Tynaarlo also has a large meadow brink at Schoolstraat, Eisenbroeken and Scheperweg. Several old farmhouses stand along the Brink and Dorpsstraat.
Hunebed D6 also brings a history reaching far back into your travel plans. The large stones still stand and lie in the places where they were set up more than 5,000 years ago. At the same time, Hunebed D6 is relatively difficult to reach by car.
Hiking trails and landscapes around the Drentsche Aa
The Tynaarlo–Wedbroeken hiking route is 6 km long and follows the winding Westerdiep as well as old, winding sandy paths. “De tien van Tynaarlo: Hart van Tynaarlo” is an 11 km hiking route. The 6 km Tynaarlo–Wedbroeken route can fit into a tighter timeframe during a day of hiking in Tynaarlo. The 11 km loop of “De tien van Tynaarlo: Hart van Tynaarlo” accordingly takes more time and leaves room for deliberately planned breaks.
At the junction of Hunebedstraat and the Zeegserloopje between Tynaarlo and Zeegse, there are separate bridges for cyclists and pedestrians and for motorised traffic. East of Tynaarlo, the Zeegserloopje and the Westerdiep flow; both are part of the Nationaal beek- en esdorpenlandschap Drentsche Aa landscape. Toegangspoort Wedbroeken is the northern gateway to Nationaal Park Drentsche Aa and offers parking spaces and an information point. There are also play facilities for children.
