At the De Kluis village museum, the history of Eext is presented through archaeological finds. On display are tools from former local workshops, including a wheelwright’s workshop and a forge. From June to September, the museum is open on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., as well as by appointment. The historic villagescape includes seven village greens planted with oak trees that have been preserved in Eext. The Zuiderbrink, one of the larger village greens in Drenthe, is home to a shepherd’s hut dating from 1642. The D14 hunebed near Eexterhalte is also a stone burial monument of the Funnel Beaker culture dating from 3400 to 3050 BC; a car park makes it easier to reach by car.

The former Eext railway station building offers an architectural detail. It dates from around 1925 and shows influences of the Amsterdam School, particularly in the window frames. Its use as the main building of a campsite has been documented since 1969. This historic building adds a 20th-century example to your exploration of Eext.
