Ezeriņi, also known as Ozerki, is a holiday-home cooperative in the immediate vicinity of the “Egļukalns” ski base and Lake Dziļais. The location thus combines nature experiences, unusual cultural discoveries and a sporting option in winter. If you are looking for a holiday apartment or holiday house for a trip that caters to different interests, you can consider Ezeriņi as a starting point for further planning.

Nature park, lake and varied routes

Svente Nature Park is a Natura 2000 nature park. It includes Lake Svente and the Sventes ezera salas nature reserve. Lake Svente is among the ten deepest lakes in Latvia and defines the character of the surrounding area. A reconstructed network of walking paths with benches, picnic areas, pavilions, wooden footbridges and viewing platforms can be found by the lake. This allows you to divide your time between quiet breaks, walks and observing the landscape according to your daily schedule.

Another specific nature route is the 4-kilometre Egļukalns Forest Nature Trail. It is located in Svente Nature Park, which belongs to the protected landscape area “Augšzeme”. A nature trail over wooden footbridges also runs through the grounds of Jaunsvente Manor Park, which was laid out at the end of the 19th century. This path is not marked. If you would like to compare different types of routes, you should take this feature into account when planning your day.

Military vehicles and archaeology

One of the notable experiences in the area is the military vehicle collection. It displays BRDM-2 and BRDM-1 armoured reconnaissance vehicles. Some exhibits can be started and used for demonstrations. The Military Vehicle Museum is located next to the “Sventes muiža” hotel; its collection also includes objects found on former battlefields. A visit to the museum therefore offers insight into technology as well as the material history of past conflicts.

The Sudmaļi hillfort also directs attention far back into the past. There is an equipped rest area and an information board there. The archaeological cultural layer is up to 1.8 metres thick. Archaeological material indicates that the inhabitants of the hillfort belonged to the Brushed Pottery culture in the 1st millennium BC. For travellers interested in culture, this creates an excursion that combines landscape and archaeology without requiring you to limit yourself to a purely museum-based route.

Cycling route and winter sports

The “Lake Svente Loop” cycling route (786) is a circular route. You can start or finish at any point, giving you flexibility when planning your day individually. The Lake Svente Road runs along Lake Svente and is located several kilometres from Jaunsvente Park. This spatial distinction is useful to bear in mind when planning if you would like to visit the lakeside routes and the manor park on different days.

For a trip with a focus on winter activities, the “Egļukalns” ski base is another point of interest. It has three slalom runs measuring 200 metres, approximately 250 metres and 220 metres in length. Ezeriņi is in the immediate vicinity of the ski base. When looking for accommodation, you can therefore weigh up whether nature trails, lake experiences, archaeological discoveries or the ski base should be the focus of your trip.

Places for further travel planning

If you would like to compare other destinations besides Ezeriņi, you can also include Višķi, Silene, Laucesa, Vabole, Mīšteļi, Kumbuļi, Šengeida and Svente in your research.
