Mežotne – Palace, Hillfort and Lielupe

Mežotne combines a Neoclassical palace, historical traces of Zemgale and the landscape along the Lielupe. Mežotne Palace is a Neoclassical landmark on the river and also a structural unit of the Rundāle Palace Museum. Opposite it lies the Mežotne Hillfort on the left bank of the Lielupe.

Palace, church and cultural insights

The history surrounding the Mežotne Hillfort is presented in the cultural space “Mežotne Church”. This includes everyday life, customs and the figures associated with this place. The exhibition in Mežotne Church also displays reconstructions of ancient Semigallian clothing and jewellery.
