In the centre of Longarone is the Museo Longarone Vajont – Attimi di Storia. It presents the history of Longarone and Vajont chronologically through an extensive collection of historical images, artefacts, eyewitness accounts and films. The collection's various formats preserve images, objects, personal accounts and film documents together in the exhibition.

The tour of the Museo Longarone Vajont – Attimi di Storia comprises four sections: it begins with Longarone before 9 October 1963, continues with the construction of the dam, covers the disaster, and extends to reconstruction and remembrance. The sequence thus follows a clear chronological arc that encompasses both the town's earlier history and the years after the event.

The Chiesa Monumentale di Longarone, also known as the Chiesa di Santa Maria Immacolata, is dedicated to the victims of Vajont and was built according to a design by Giovanni Michelucci. Outside the Chiesa Monumentale di Longarone are the Vajont Victims Memorial and the Museo Pietre Vive.

The Cimitero Monumentale delle Vittime del Vajont comprises 1,910 white marble stelae, one for each victim of the disaster. Its entrance portal recalls the dam in its distinctive form. On the ground floor of the entrance portal is a collection of artefacts and photographs commemorating life in Longarone before the disaster. Upstairs, there is a terrace overlooking the Monumental Cemetery.

Stone masonry as a local theme

The Museo della Pietra e degli Scalpellini presents techniques for extracting, working and transforming stone. With a collection of tools, photographs and eyewitness accounts, it honours generations of local stone masons. The museum is divided into five thematic sections, presenting both work with the material and the craft's traditional records.

Forest and valley as natural highlights

The Foresta di Cajada is part of the Parco Nazionale delle Dolomiti Bellunesi and comprises dense forests of silver firs, beeches, larches and mountain pines.

The Val del Grisol provides access to the Parco Nazionale delle Dolomiti Bellunesi and leads towards the Pian de Fontana and Pramperet mountain huts.
