Holiday apartment in Segonzano: Nature, Trails and Culture

If you are looking for a holiday apartment in Segonzano, you can shape your days away around a wide variety of experiences: castle ruins and sacred art, forest trails and old mule tracks, rocks and water, or regional wine.

History Made Visible in Piazzo

In Piazzo (Spiàz), Albrecht Dürer dedicated several watercolour views to the castle ruins during his journey in 1494. Also in Piazzo di Segonzano is Ca' de la Val, housed in the stone building of the historic Venetian sawmill. The restored sawmill is considered a work of the local craft heritage.

The Chiesa dell'Immacolata preserves a statue of the Madonna dell'Uva from the 15th century. It was created by an anonymous Tyrolean master and is venerated throughout Val di Cembra as the protector of the harvest. Another special place is the Santuario della Madonna dell'Aiuto, located in a forest in the shade of a lime tree several centuries old.

Mountains, Mule Tracks and Special Routes

The surrounding area of Segonzano includes Dosso di Segonzano, a mountain, Monte Speggia, a summit, and Monte di Grumes, also a summit. La Gorsa, a mountain, is also located near Segonzano.

The Sentiero di Segonzano combines geological and natural-history interest with long forest sections along old mule tracks and stops in attractive villages. The Sentiero di Dürer leads from Lago Santo via Cembra, the Ponte di Cantilaga and the ruins of Castello di Segonzano to the Segonzano Earth Pyramids.

The ruins of Castello di Segonzano stand on a rocky hill that overlooks the historic Ponte di Cantilaga. Castello di Segonzano is mentioned in documents dating from 1216. The Castello di Segonzano e il canyon del Prà route leads to a rocky gorge where the Avisio has formed a calm, blue-green natural pool. A climbing facility has been set up along this route on the rock face above the water.

Cultural Destinations and Regional Delicacies

The wider region around Segonzano is home to Castel Thun, a castle. Also in this area, in Trento, is the Museo Storico in Trento - Castello del Buonconsiglio, a museum. There are also Monte Palace, a palace, and the Provincial Museum of Art, a museum. A stay in Segonzano can therefore also be combined with visits that extend beyond the immediate local history.

During an experience at Cantina Barone a Prato, the basket is collected at the winery. Near Castello di Segonzano, the experience continues with wine from Barone a Prato and regional products. When choosing your accommodation, you can therefore consider whether you would rather focus on nature trails, historic sites, cultural destinations or these regional culinary experiences.

Further places to help you get your bearings in the region: San Michele All'adige, Folgaria, Villa Lagarina, Lomaso, Crosano, Thenn, Grigno, Valle San Felice.

For the overarching travel overview: Trentino.
