Brez combines mountain trails with churches and religious traditions. For you as someone planning a holiday apartment in Brez, this creates different focal points: high-altitude landscapes, village churches, special festivals and the Monumento al Minatore in Rivo.

Trails between pass, ridge and malga

The route along the ridge between Passo di Brez and Monte Ozolo begins at Passo di Brez and leads to Monte Ozolo. From there, it offers views across the entire Non Valley and of Lago di Santa Giustina. From Forcella di Brez, the route initially follows signpost A32 and, after about 750 metres, takes trail A29 to Passo di Cloz at the right-hand junction.

Malga Monte Ori can be reached from Forcella di Brez via a footpath approximately seven kilometres long with around 500 metres of elevation gain. The path from Forcella di Brez to Malga di Brez is travelled on foot because the access road is closed to motor vehicles, and it follows trails marked in white and red. The two destinations therefore offer different opportunities to explore the mountain landscape around Brez on foot.

High-altitude landscapes and changing scenery

The pastureland around Malga Monte Ori lies between 1,700 and 1,900 metres above sea level. It includes forests, pastures and peat bogs, as well as the protected provincial biotope of Monte Sous (Selva). In the Brez-Novella area, the landscape, characterised by orchards, gradually changes into a narrower, rougher landscape with large coniferous forests.

Churches and local history

The present parish church of San Floriano near the village of Arsio, one of the villages of Brez, was built in 1517. The Church of Santa Maria Ausiliatrice in Brez contains a large wooden crucifix from the 17th century, which was formerly kept in San Floriano. On Brez's main road, the Church of Saints Fabiano and Sebastiano is one of the smaller churches that served the various villages in the area. In Rivo, a village of Brez, the Monumento al Minatore stands in the square.

In the parish of Brez, Saint Florian is especially celebrated as the patron saint. Madonna Addolorata is also especially celebrated there.
