Alcamo Marina combines beach, water sports, nature and striking traces of the past. Alcamo Marina beach is located in the immediate vicinity of the Zingaro Nature Reserve. You can also enjoy various water sports in Alcamo Marina. If you choose a holiday apartment in Alcamo Marina, your stay can therefore be planned around different interests: activities on the water, observing nature or cultural discoveries.
Beach, water sports and activities for different interests
Lido Windsurf is located in Alcamo Marina, in the area known as “Aleccia”. For people with motor disabilities, Centro Asia offers daily beach assistance from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. until 15 September, as well as special beach and water wheelchairs; the support is provided by Red Cross volunteers. Centro Asia also offers marine biology workshops on sand, water, and the fauna and flora of this stretch of coast. Its summer programme in July and August includes exercise, creative workshops, environmental education and opportunities to meet for people of all ages.
The Tonnara Foderà di Magazzinazzi
Several specific historical testimonies come together at the Tonnara Foderà di Magazzinazzi. The former tuna fishery on the Lungomare of Alcamo Marina in the locality of Magazzinazzi is classified as cultural heritage worthy of protection under Law 10891939. It was built by the Foderà family at the beginning of the 20th century. One of its warehouses houses a small museum with explanatory panels. The marfaraggio of the tonnara includes historic boats and a net system.
Roman production history
Alcamo Marina’s Roman past is also tangible. Two Roman-era kilns were discovered there. The Roman production facility was in operation from the late 1st century BC until the middle of the 5th century AD. Around it were workshop areas for various production lines as well as storage and intermediate storage areas; at least 15 kilns are also presumed to have been located there. For families who want to combine different interests on holiday, this creates a vivid connection between the coast and history.
Nature at the Torrente Molinelle
The surroundings of Alcamo Marina at the Torrente Molinelle include remnants of scrub vegetation with Juniperus turbinata, which are considered worthy of protection. This natural feature complements the beach with another specific aspect: alongside water activities and the coastal landscape, you can also focus on the plant life of the surrounding area.
Breakfast by the sea
A culinary break can also be one of the possible holiday ideas on site: the Beach Club and the Bandiera Gialla restaurant in Alcamo Marina promote a substantial breakfast by the sea.
When choosing your holiday apartment in Alcamo Marina, you can weigh these focal points against one another. Your decision about the location can be based on what you would like to experience: water sports, activities at Centro Asia, the history of the tonnara and Roman production history, nature at the Torrente Molinelle or breakfast by the sea. The different themes allow you to plan a trip with active, nature-focused and culture-oriented days.
