Holiday apartment in Lascari between history and memory

The fortified Casale Santa Eufemia was founded in the 12th or 13th century and served as a seasonal residence for the Aragonese rulers. The Chiesa San Michele Arcangelo also combines historical depth with distinctive architectural features: it has a Latin-cross floor plan and three naves. Inside are two large Baroque paliotti made of polychrome marble, dating from the late 17th or early 18th century and crafted using the “marmi mischi” technique.

MuVi Lascari preserves archival documents and manuscripts dating from 1693 to the first half of the 20th century. In the “Storia e beni culturali” section, it has 12 thematic rooms. MuVi also regularly organizes the exhibition “Lascari, percorsi storici e documentali”, dedicated to learning about and using the local archival collection.

Lascari’s contemporary memory includes two murals with different messages. The mural “Piccolo” honors Giuseppe Di Matteo and all innocent victims of the Mafia. “La Comunità” uses local faces from the MuVi Lascari photo archive as symbols of collective identity.
