Discover Rocca Di Capri Leone – Churches, Sanctuary and Festivals

Several churches, the Madonna del Tindari Sanctuary and recurring religious festivals shape the discovery of Rocca di Capri Leone. The sacred sites combine several building phases with recurring dates and individual dated events. Capri Leone is part of the Nebrodi area, providing the regional setting for your stay.

Churches and Sanctuaries with Their Own History

The Church of Maria Santissima del Rosario in Rocca di Capri Leone was built at the beginning of the 20th century. The “Our Lady of Czestochowa” Church was built in Rocca di Capri Leone in the mid-1980s. The Madonna del Tindari Sanctuary, dating from 1986, is located on Via Provinciale on elevated ground, from where it overlooks the entire town. The Church of Maria Santissima del Tindari was inaugurated and officially opened for worship after a 25-year wait. Anyone interested in architecture and sacred sites will find several stops from different periods here for planning their own day. The construction dates range from the beginning of the 20th century to the 1980s, giving the sacred architecture a recognisable chronological span.

Festivals and Religious Moments Throughout the Year

A flower show organised by the local “Movimiento Juvenil” association takes place every May on the main staircase of the Madonna del Tindari Sanctuary. The patronal festival of Madonna del Rosario in the Rocca di Capri Leone district takes place every year in October. Its religious programme includes the Rosary, a solemn Mass and a procession carrying the image of the Virgin through the town’s streets. On 29 August 2025, the mechanised statue of Madonna del Tindari was inaugurated in Rocca di Capri Leone; it rotates 360 degrees every day at 12 noon. The Church of Maria Santissima di Czestochowa in Rocca di Capri Leone also hosted a meeting of the Diocese of Patti, attended by around one hundred engaged couples. Over the course of the year, this means that a sanctuary event and a patronal festival in the Rocca district complement each other.

The “Peppino Grasso” Urban Park

The “Peppino Grasso” Urban Park in the Rocca district hosted a wheelchair tennis event organised by the Rocca di Capri Leone Tennis Club. The same park contains a children’s play area named after Federica Calà Scaglitta.

Churches, Festivals and the Park Throughout the Day

Churches and sanctuaries, events in May or October, and the Urban Park provide different focal points for days in Rocca di Capri Leone. Rocca di Caprileone is designated as station 008 on the A20.
