Floresta lies within the Parco dei Nebrodi and preserves a typical feudal structure. Stone houses cluster beneath the bell towers of two churches, giving the village a distinctive character. If you are considering a holiday apartment in Floresta, you will find culture, mountain landscapes, trails and regional traditions here, forming a closely connected travel experience.

The sacred history includes the Chiesa Madre di Sant'Anna and the Chiesa di Sant'Antonio da Padova. The Chiesa Madre dates from the mid-18th century and was rededicated to Saint Anne in the 19th century. The Chiesa di Sant'Antonio da Padova originated in the 17th century, while its current structure dates from the early years of the 20th century.

Religious customs and handicrafts also shape the local experiences. The triptych of Sant'Anna, Mary and the Christ Child is traditionally carried on the shoulders by worshippers in a procession. The Festa di Sant'Anna attracts visitors from nearby communities and tourists. Today, the Mostra del Ricamo Artigianale on Via Umberto I is also well known. Embroidery was once a widespread craft practised in the homes of Floresta.

Trails, views and active days on holiday

Stage 23 of the Sentiero Italia SI-C V23-A begins in the centre of Floresta and ends in the centre of Montalbano Elicona. The trail is signposted with continuous white-and-red markings, directional signs and thematic information boards. Another stage of the Dorsale dei Nebrodi, from Portella Femmina Morta to Portella Dagara, ends at Portella Dagara in Floresta.

A trail in the Parco dei Nebrodi connects Floresta with Randazzo and passes through the area of the Alcantara River. Along this trail, a viewpoint over the Tortorici Valley offers a view of Mount Etna. From the trail to the viewpoint, migratory birds and several mammal species can also be observed. Another trail in Floresta's network leads to Lago Pisciotto. For those interested in horse riding, the Floresta–Favoscuro riding route is approximately 6.5 km long and takes around two and a half hours at mixed gaits.

Nebrodi landscapes and regional specialities

Portella Favo Scuro marks the eastern boundary of the Parco dei Nebrodi. At the same time, it is a road junction on State Road 116 in the area of Floresta and Santa Domenica di Vittoria. Near Floresta, 7 km from the built-up centre, lies Contrada Giuffrè with its centuries-old oak and maple forests. In Costa del Salice, white willow (Salix alba subsp. alba L.) grows among the waterside vegetation of protection zone D of the Parco dei Nebrodi.

Regional cuisine includes Provola dei Nebrodi, a traditional Sicilian Caciocavallo made artisanally by cheesemakers in the Nebrodi Mountains. Ottobrando takes place in Floresta, with events dedicated to apples, chestnuts, mushrooms and honey.
