The Cathedral of Santa Maria la Nova contains trompe-l’œil frescoes by the Flemish painter Guglielmo Borremans. The Teatro Regina Margherita dates from 1870 and adds a venue for the performing arts to the historic sights. The Church of Santo Spirito was built in 1095 by Ruggero il Normanno on the site of an already existing fortified Arab farmstead.
