Harbor, Museum and Early Periods

The Museo archeologico di Olbia is located in the immediate vicinity of Olbia, on the small island of Peddone opposite the old harbor. Its exhibition is dedicated to the history of the harbor and the city, with a particular focus on the Phoenician, Greek, Punic and Roman periods. For those interested in culture, the museum combines its location opposite the old harbor with the history of Olbia across several periods.

The Museo archeologico di Olbia also displays the wreck of a small medieval boat. It is currently considered the only boat of its kind publicly exhibited in Italy. With the medieval boat, the exhibition extends chronologically beyond the four ancient periods.

Basilica and Necropolis of San Simplicio

The Basilica di San Simplicio is the oldest religious monument in northeastern Sardinia. The excavation at Tempio Necropoli San Simplicio uncovered around 450 Roman-era graves, dated from 200 BC to AD 300.

Tempio Necropoli San Simplicio also documents a sequence of extra-urban cult and necropolis phases covering the first 2,000 years of Olbia's history, from the Phoenicians to the Middle Ages. The Roman graves form a distinct section within this longer sequence of cult and necropolis phases.
