It is connected with an episode of the partisan war in which the Georgian resistance figure was involved; the road below bears this person’s name. Villa Conelli was built in the second half of the 19th century by Eugenio Linati as a U-shaped urban palace and has an Italian garden, a small wood, a landing stage and a former stable complex. The Oratorio di San Paolo contains frescoes depicting Christ in a mandorla, the Apostles and the cycle of the months. It can be reached from the SP 125 via a footpath with a white signpost; near the oratory, a boulder bears carved cup marks.

The “Historic center and lakeside ring” is an easy hike for all fitness and experience levels; the paths are easy to walk. The “Anello Belgirate – Lesa” is a simple, level route connecting Belgirate and Lesa. The level connection to Lesa follows a different route from the loop through the historic centre and lakeside area. The Sentiero dei Castagni leads to the Chiesa Vecchia di Santa Maria; from its terrace, a view opens up over the town’s rooftops. The Chiesa Vecchia is a little more than a ten-minute walk from the town centre, beyond the railway on the hill near the cemetery.

Belgirate has a public beach. Sailboats and motorboats are also available for hire, windsurfing is offered through the Associazione Windsurf Belgirate, and Club Sub Il Sciatt offers diving activities. At Polaris Yacht in the Marina di Belgirate, you can rent canoes for one or two hours. Three-hour sailing trips with a skipper are also offered there, exploring particularly impressive areas of Lake Maggiore and its islands.
