A holiday apartment in Torre opens the way to a journey through hilly landscapes, historic buildings and clearly marked trails. One circular route starts in Reg. Torre and leads via S. Defendente, Reg. Fagnour and Val Pallera to the Cappella di Santa Lucia del Fagnour. The Superga-Crea Trail passes through Bardassano, Sciolze and Cinzano, through forests and vineyards, past castles and on to the Abbey of Vezzolano. This allows your daily itinerary to include different landscape and cultural themes.

Panoramas of the hills and Alps

Itinerario n.150 follows a trail along a ridge with panoramic views of the Po Plain beyond the Po, the Canavese area and the Alps, including the Cervino and Monte Rosa. From the summit of Colle di Fagnour at an altitude of 480 m, not far from the village in the direction of Bardassano, there is a 360° panorama of Monte Rosa, the Cervino, Gran Paradiso, Rocciamelone, Monviso, the Ligurian Alps and the first part of the Apennines.

Forests, slopes and fossils

Itinerario n.156 passes through forests and cultivated areas on the slopes of Bric Ruffino. After the turnoff to Valle Lucco near Marentino, it crosses to the other side of the hills and continues along the slope of Bric Bianco. The sedimentary wall of I Sabbioni, also known as Sabion, is rich in fossil molluscs and corals.

Churches and medieval traces in Sciolze

Sciolze is dominated by Castello di San Severino, a medieval fortress of which only a few wall remains have survived. The parish church of San Giovanni Battista has a main altar made of Gassino stone, four wooden sculptures from the 18th century and an altarpiece by E. Gamba depicting the baptism of Jesus. The Chiesa della Confraternita dello Spirito Santo was built between the late 17th and early 18th centuries and is not open to the public.

The Cappella di Santa Lucia del Fagnour

The chapel dedicated to Saint Lucia on Colle del Fagnour is dated to the 11th century. The Cappella di Santa Lucia del Fagnour was formerly called Santa Maria del Fagnour and was the first church built in the area of Sciolze. The Cappella di Santa Lucia is opened on 15 August, 4 November and during some services in May.

An October event

In Sciolze, the Sagra della Zucca di Sciolze is associated with the first Sunday in October.
