A striking example of Cuorgnè’s history is Via Arduino. It is considered an important urban-planning and architectural example of the old trading district. Almost the entire street is lined with arcades; the best-preserved ones feature characteristic widened arches. In some places, the cobblestones with which the central street was once completely paved are still visible. These details give a walk along Via Arduino a clearly recognisable historical character.

The Chiesa di San Giovanni, also known as San Giovanni Decollato, is located in the centre of Cuorgnè’s Borgo. It was the church of the Confraternita della Misericordia. The Chiesa di San Giovanni already existed in 1378. The present building dates from the early 17th century. It has a single-nave layout and two lateral Baroque altars.

The Torre Quadrata is also part of the historic silhouette. It was built between 1330 and 1380 as a tower taller than the round tower. In 1469, it was transferred to the municipality; later, it served as the town’s bell tower and clock tower. The present church building dates from the early 17th century, whereas the Torre Quadrata was built as early as between 1330 and 1380.

The Grotta Boira Fusca, an archaeological site, is located in the Salto district. In the 1970s, Boira Fusca was the first cave in which prehistoric remains from the Lower Palaeolithic through the Bronze Age came to light. The archaeological site is therefore in Salto, while the Chiesa di San Giovanni stands in the Borgo.

Paths through forests and clearings

At the same time, the Percorso CAI 421 is the traditional uphill route to the Sacro Monte of the Cuorgnè community. The two trails therefore begin in different districts of Cuorgnè.
