Hiking trails and forest art around Bossolasco

GTL Stage 08 leads from Murazzano to Bossolasco and is a hiking section of the Strade dei Formaggi. It runs along the ridge road of Passo della Bossola, considered one of the most panoramic sections in the entire area. At the Church of Santa Maria degli Angeli, the stage reaches Bossolasco; from there, it continues into the village centre. From Pian della Croce, a staircase or an uphill cycle path leads to Colle della Resistenza.

The trails to Serravalle Langhe also offer different perspectives. A hike can begin at the car parks along Circonvallazione Giacinto Bauzano. From there, the short climb along Via del Castello leads directly into the centre. The route passes through a pleasant, cool stretch of woodland. At 802 metres, Località Bicocca is the highest point in Bossolasco. From there, views extend across the Belbo Valley to Monviso and the Monte Rosa massif. Churches, towers and palaces in the village centre

The parish church of San Giovanni Battista is dedicated to the patron saint of Bossolasco; the first records of it date back to 1327. Its stone bell tower was built between 1462 and 1464 and is the only surviving part of the former church. Palazzo Balestrino Marchesi del Carretto also shapes the village’s appearance. It was built between 1664 and 1667 and has survived to this day as an imposing building. It is also known as Palazzone.

The Parco delle rose rare e antiche is also known as Viale della Rimembranza because it is dedicated to those who fell in the First World War. Access to the old village centre is via Piazza Ragazzi del ’99, which was known until the previous century as Piazzetta di San Cristoforo. In this way, historic names, religious buildings and distinctive squares are closely linked to the history of Bossolasco, without limiting you to a single holiday theme.

Festivals and local traditions throughout the year

The Festa delle Rose takes place every year on the first Sunday in June. On the third Sunday in October, Bossolasco holds a Castagnata. Craftspeople and stalls selling typical products gather in the historic streets and squares. At the Cappella di S. Rocco, a novena is held in May, and on 8 September a torchlit procession is held for the Festa della Madonna.
