Watchtower and panoramic circular trail in Belvedere Langhe

The ruins bear the name “Castello”, but in fact belong to a watchtower built of brick in the mid-14th century. The municipal panoramic circular trail “BEL…VEDERE – sguardo lento attraverso la cornice” includes the castle ruins in its route.

Churches, chapels and a place in the centre

The first historical records of the church dedicated to Saint Nicolao date back to 1579. The Cappella dell’Assunta was built between 1874 and 1884 to replace a dilapidated chapel.

The design for the Cappella dell’Assunta was entrusted to Giovanni Battista Schellino. Its neoclassical façade consists of exposed brick masonry from local brickworks, possibly from Dogliani.

The Cappella di Santa Margherita is located in the Borgo dei Giuliani. It is probably attributed to a design by Giovanni Battista Schellino from the late 19th century.

The Biblioteca Civica A. Merlati is located on the ground floor at Piazza Aldo Moro 1. It is accessible during opening hours.

Festivals with religious and local customs

The feast of Saint Nicholas of Bari, the patron saint, includes a thanksgiving service at which farmers offer harvests from their fields at the altar. During the traditional “tiro alle ule”, participants aim a ball at pots and bottles placed approximately two metres above the ground.

The feast of Saint Ursula is celebrated in the Piangarombo district on the Saturday after Ferragosto. On the following Saturday, an afternoon of entertainment takes place in the Cappella di Santa Margherita in the Borgo dei Giuliani.

The Assumption of the Virgin Mary is celebrated on 15 August. In the Borgo dell’Assunta, the festival includes music and dancing.

At the Festa dei Micun, the Micùn loaves are blessed after a procession during a solemn Mass in the parish church of San Sebastiano. The blessing of the loaves is therefore tied to the course of the procession and the church service.
