Ironworking as a special experience

The Centro di Documentazione sulla Lavorazione del Ferro in Netro preserves tools made by Officine Rubino, drawings, sample collections and historic machinery, as well as catalogued documents from 1901 to 1964. The collection includes more than 1,000 drawings. The holdings document the development of ironworking. Guided tours are also offered at the Centro. This makes a cultural theme the focus in Netro, one that can be explored vividly through objects, technological development and historical documents.

Romanesque church, frescoes and village centre

The Pieve o Chiesa Cimiteriale di Santa Maria Assunta is an 11th-century Romanesque church that became a cemetery church in the 16th century. Its façade from the original 1000 construction is integrated into an extension with three naves dating from 1491; the church also has three stone apses. Inside are frescoes from the 15th and 16th centuries attributed to Domenico della Marca of Ancona.

The church is located in Netro’s cemetery and can be reached from the SP 500 via Via Rubino and then Via Oddone. In the centre of Netro stands the 19th-century Parrocchiale dell’Assunta. A few steps away is the small Baroque building Oratorio di S. Rocco. Only one tower remains of Netro Castle; it is used as the bell tower of the Oratorio di San Rocco.

Marked trails and landscapes

Beyond its cultural attractions, Netro also offers clear options for active days. The “IL SENTIERO DEI PE’ D’OCA” trail is marked throughout with the white-and-red B12 trail markings and the “Pe d’oca” logo. The mountain bike route from Netro passes through chestnut and birch forests, meadows and pastures. Above the village centre, in the Carasseie area, is the “Area attrezzata Masini”, an equipped picnic area.

Tradition with a historic carnival

“Il Carvé ’d Netro” is a historic carnival in Netro. At the 2026 edition, the keys to the town were traditionally handed over by the mayor to the historic masked figures. The event complements the churches, the ironworking museum and the trails with a vibrant tradition bearing its own local character.
