Discover Bubbio: Via Maestra and the Bormida Valley

Bubbio is situated on a rocky terrace above the Bormida River. On the other sides, the town slopes down towards fields and meadows in the direction of the valley. Its elevated position gives the townscape a spatial setting between the valley and the village structure.

Historic village between lanes and stairways

The historic village of Bubbio preserves the Via Maestra, dating from the 14th century, with old houses, lanes, side paths and stairways between the castle and the parish church. Sacred architecture and contemporary art

The Chiesa di Nostra Signora Assunta was built between 1750 and 1779 and has a Baroque organ. The Chiesa della Confraternita dell’Annunziata provides a different architectural accent. It is also referred to as the Oratorio dei Disciplinati and the Confraternita dei Battuti, and has a Baroque façade and a carved wooden portal from the 18th century. The two churches showcase different Baroque focal points: the organ in one, and the façade and wooden portal in the other. Circular trail to Bric del Moro

The circular trail begins in Bubbio’s historic town centre at the Via Maestra and leads to Bric del Moro. From there, a 360-degree panorama opens up over the Bormida Valley and the municipalities of the Comunità Montana Langa Astigiana - Val Bormida.
