Churches with a long history

The Chiesa Parrocchiale di Maria Ausiliatrice preserves a wooden Pietà from the early 16th century. The present-day church was inaugurated in 1941 and built through the work of Merana's residents. The Chiesetta di San Fermo has an older connection: it is a 17th-century chapel located on the site of the original parish church of San Nicolao. This link to a historic parish site can be traced back to documents dated 14 March 1170 and 9 May 1179.

Hiking through the hilly landscape

The approximately 400-metre-long Percorso Botanico is located on the summit of San Fermo hill and offers a short opportunity to explore this landscape on foot. For a longer tour, there is L'Anello di Merana: the circular trail is 10.52 kilometres long, has difficulty level E and a stated duration of 3 hours and 30 minutes. It is marked with regional trail marker 575. Variants allow the route to be shortened and offer a return to the town. Access to L'Anello di Merana is at the rest area by the Pro Loco. On the trails through Merana's hilly landscape, hikers can also discover the stone figures known as “muriòn” among broom and thyme.

Memorial site and Festa Patronale

In the Calanchi area of Merana, a wooden boat stands as a memorial site. Paolo and Luca Ghione dedicated it to their father Pierino. The Festa Patronale di San Fermo is also part of local life: it takes place in Merana; a public event has been announced for 8 August 2026 at the Chiesetta di San Fermo on Colle di San Fermo.
