Churches, Chapels and Palazzo Piccini

The Church of San Rocco in the San Rocco district of Gamalero was built in 1789. In the Cascinali Spassona area, there is a second chapel dedicated to San Rocco; it is associated with the cult of this saint as a protector against epidemics, particularly following the 1630 plague. The Church of San Lorenzo in Gamalero was built in 1515 to expand the earlier Church of Santa Maria.

The Oratorio di San Sebastiano e della Santissima Trinità was built in 1665 on the site of an earlier pieve and was the seat of the Brotherhood of the Santissima Trinità. The Biblioteca Civica di Gamalero is located in the historic Palazzo Piccini at Piazza Aldo Moro 3 and occupies approximately 130 m² there. Churches, chapels, the oratory and the library offer several different points of connection with the history of the area.

History along the Sentiero dei Cinque Ponti

The Sentiero dei Cinque Ponti passes the surviving remains of Castel Merlino. Following the demolition of the former castle in 1802, these remains are considered its only surviving evidence. The Sentiero dei Cinque Ponti also provides information about the Canale Carlo Alberto, which was built between 1833 and 1839.
