Holiday apartment in Sondalo: Discover nature, history and trails
Part of the municipality of Sondalo lies within Stelvio National Park. The Val di Rezzalo preserves traditional huts made of wood and stone. There are easy trails for hiking and mountain biking, as well as ski touring in winter. The wooden and stone huts give the Val di Rezzalo a distinctive built character. The season is an important factor when planning an outing: the easy trails are suitable for hiking and mountain biking, while ski touring is a winter activity.
Val di Rezzalo: Huts and trails
Bus services to the Val di Rezzalo have been temporarily suspended due to a landslide. Shortly after Sondalo, leave the SS38 at Le Prese, follow the signs to Frontale and continue to the village of Fontanaccia. After parking the car, an old mule track from the First World War begins there. For an outing to the Val di Rezzalo, the change from road access to the historic footpath is therefore a specific planning consideration. The mule track carries the history of the First World War through this section of the route.

Sentiero dei Minerali and sports facilities
The Sentiero dei Minerali passes through Sondalo’s mineralogical heritage. Along the route, anastasite, tourmalines, zircons, apatites, native arsenic and quartz can be found. The Cittadella dello Sport offers facilities for football, athletics, tennis, basketball, roller skating, climbing and skateboarding, as well as ice skating in winter.
Sanatorium history and historic village landscapes
The Museo dei Sanatori di Sondalo documents the history of the sanatoriums built in Valtellina during the 20th century to combat tuberculosis. The tour takes place in the rooms formerly used to admit patients. Since 2010, guided tours of the complex and park of Villaggio Morelli have been organised in summer with specialists in architecture, landscape, art history and forestry.
Castello di Boffalora in Sondalo was the scene in the 13th century of conflicts between the Guelph factions of the Torriani family and the Ghibelline Corrado Venosta. The historic centre contains old, rustic houses with frescoes from the 15th and 16th centuries. The frescoes from the 15th and 16th centuries thus represent a different historical layer from the conflicts of the 13th century.
Migiondo: Rural heritage and regional cuisine
Migiondo, a rural district of Sondalo, preserves stone houses, hay barns, stables, manure heaps, washhouses and frescoes associated with the former farming way of life. In Migiondo, various types of buildings from the former farming way of life stand side by side, including stone houses, hay barns, stables and washhouses. La Miğiondàra is a gastronomic walk through Migiondo featuring seasonal local specialities from the region and Valtellina tradition. La Miğiondàra adds a culinary accent to these rural village landscapes.
