Churches, History and Villa Daccò

The Chiesa dell'Addolorata is first mentioned in 917. The Chiesa di San Pancrazio is documented by Goffredo da Bussero as early as the end of the 13th century. It was built in open countryside along the main road crossing the Gessate area. Villa Daccò dates from 1835 and has rooms on the ground floor with fully frescoed ceilings. An extensive and impressive park surrounds the entire villa. At San Pancrazio, the written documentation and the location along the main road come together.

Festivals, Torta and Districts

The Sagra della Paciarella takes place once a year on the first Sunday in October. It celebrates the traditional Torta di latte, also known as Torta campagnola. As part of the Sagra, a historical parade with nobles and common people in 17th-century costumes takes place every year. The Palio del Pane is a relay race between Gessate's four districts—Badia, Castellaccio, Cittadella and San Pancrazio—over a course of approximately 200 metres. The Landscape around the Torrente Vallone

Gessate is part of Parco del Rio Vallone, a Parco Locale di Interesse Sovracomunale (PLIS). The park stretches along the Torrente Vallone over 1,181 hectares and serves as an important ecological corridor within the system of protected areas; it is surrounded by further protected areas. The 2.65 kilometres to the park entrance lead from the station area into this landscape.

Metro, Parking and San Pancrazio

Gessate metro station is the terminus of line M2 of the Milan Metro on the northeastern suburban section to and from Cascina Gobba. There is a private car park, a public car park and the bus station next to the metro station. On Via A. Manzoni, the Chiesa di San Pancrazio has an accessible entrance that can be reached from the pavement.
