The circular route to Monte Due Mani via Zucco di Desio begins in the hamlet of Casere in Maggio. It leads over Monte Tabor and along the hamlet of La Foppa to Zucco di Desio at an altitude of 1,651 m. The route then reaches the summit of Monte Due Mani along a scenic ridge. It passes through a typical pre-Alpine landscape with meadows as well as beech and birch forests. With its dome shape, the Bivacco Locatelli defines the summit of Monte Due Mani and creates a striking architectural accent there.

If you prefer a clearly defined hike, the “Anello basso Maggio/ Valle Desio” circular route is classified as a tourist trail. It has an elevation gain of 166 m and takes one hour. The circular route starts and ends in Maggio and leads through the hamlets of Tonalli di Sopra, Valle Dongoli, Valle Desio, Canale Guzzi and Fonte di S. Lorenzo, before returning to Tonali di Sopra. Another option is the “Anello da Maggio alla Culmine di San Pietro” circular route. It starts in Maggio at the Fontana di San Lorenzo and runs along a mostly unpaved road through the hamlet of Ussola to the mountain pastures. This trail can be extended to the Piani di Artavaggio. The route through Valle Desio connects the hamlets and takes one hour, while the route to Culmine di San Pietro can be extended to the Piani di Artavaggio.

Cycling through the Valle del Torrente Ferrera

Maggio also offers a specific option for a cycling tour. The SI-C D14S-B route is fully accessible by bicycle. It leads downhill through the Valle del Torrente Ferrera towards the village of Maggio. This adds a cycling route as its own form of travel to the hiking destinations, without losing sight of the mountain and village connections.

Church and Ponte della Vittoria

The cultural side of Maggio includes the parish church of Natività della Beata Vergine in Maggio di Cremeno. It was built in the 17th century and preserves frescoes by Romeo Rivetta and Arturo Galli, paintings by Giancarlo Vitali, sculptures by Enrico Manfrini and the modern organ made by the Mascioni company. The Ponte della Vittoria can be crossed at a height of 96 m above the Torrente Pioverna and leads to the hamlet of Maggio.
