Holiday apartment in Baita: hiking trails and history

In Baita, woodland trails meet historic sites in the surrounding area. The routes range from a mule track with switchbacks to an ascent via a stone staircase; they are complemented by a historic complex, a castle and two palaces. This places specific sections of landscape alongside distinct cultural sites for planning a day out.

Sentiero 801B between woodland and stream

The Sentiero 801B runs between San Michele in Torre de' Busi and Valcava. After approximately 500 metres, the hiking trail crosses the Bratta stream. Along this route, the mule track passes through beech woodland and follows a series of switchbacks. The character of the route is therefore defined by a clear sequence: the connection between San Michele and Valcava, the section leading to the stream, and the woodland passage with its winding course. The approximate distance of 500 metres can serve as the first waypoint for dividing up the route. The stretch between San Michele and Valcava, the stream section and the beech woodland provide specific reference points for a day of hiking. A break after approximately 500 metres can be planned as an early stopping point along the route.

Monte Tesoro and Colle di Sogno

The Sentiero 823 climbs through woodland to a ridge of Monte Tesoro. The Anello Colle di Sogno hiking route leads to Baita and then climbs from there via a stone staircase to Colle di Sogno. Water is available along the route. The stone staircase marks a clearly defined section for planning the day; the water along the route is another specific reference point.

San Michele and the Sentiero 821

The historic San Michele complex dates back to the 12th century. It can only be reached on foot via a mule track. In the area of Torre de' Busi, the Sentiero 821 follows a well-marked mule track; along its course, it has the highest concentration of wayside shrines. The footpath is therefore a specific part of planning a visit to San Michele. The dating of the complex and the wayside shrines along the hiking trail provide two distinct historical points of interest. For a day combining cultural and walking sections, San Michele and the Sentiero 821 can be treated as separate stops.

Castello Dell'Innominato is located in the immediate vicinity of Baita. The Casa di Lucia palace is located in the surrounding area of Baita; the Palazzotto di Don Rodrigo palace is also located there. This adds three further buildings to the hiking trails.
