The Corni di Canzo trekking route from Valbrona begins at Alpe Oneda at an elevation of 719 metres and ends at Rifugio SEV – Società Escursionisti Valmadreresi at 1,239 metres. The Visino–Alpe di Megna circular route is 4.33 kilometres long, has an elevation gain of 211 metres and an elevation loss of 213 metres, is classified as a Class E hiking trail and takes approximately 1 hour and 10 minutes. A hike to Monte Megna begins in the Maisano hamlet at the sports centre car park.

The recommended starting point for the route in Osigo is at one of the car parks on Via Monte Grappa in Valbrona. This starting point can be reached via the SP46 from Oliveto Lario or by bus route C35 to the Via Veneto 21 stop. The various details on starting points, elevation gains and duration make it easier to plan different hiking days without requiring every tour to fit the same time frame.

Chiesa di San Michele in Visino

The Chiesa di San Michele in Visino stands on a rise at the edge of the Visino hamlet; access from the rear is via a stone staircase. The first document attesting to the existence of the church is the “Liber notitiae sanctorum mediolani” from the second half of the 13th century. The Chiesa di San Michele houses the polyptych by Ambrogio da Fossano (Bergognone), as well as other works of art from various periods that were loaned on deposit by the Pinacoteca di Brera.

Village history and special discoveries

The Massi avelli of Valbrona are earth graves carved into erratic blocks of granite, Serizzo, gneiss or serpentine. At the entrance to the old centre of Maisano, traces of an ancient torchio were rediscovered during the renovation of a rustico. This device, frequently used in farming culture, was associated with oil and wine as traditional agricultural products. In Visino, the pond is equipped with water features, including an Archimedes’ screw.
