Blevio combines historic route connections, mosaic art, the Prea Nairöla erratic boulder, church music and cuisine rooted in lake traditions.

Historic Traces and Mosaic Art

In the statutes of Como from 1335, Blevio appears as a municipality responsible for maintaining a section of the Via Regina. Another historical highlight is the Prestinari organ in Blevio: it dates from 1821, is a national monument and is protected as artistic and cultural heritage. The “Parco mosaici di Blevio” project envisages creating artistic paths over time along the footpaths and in the public parks within the municipality of Blevio. The chosen mosaic technique makes it possible to create outdoor works of art that withstand the effects of the weather. The local history therefore brings together both a municipal responsibility concerning a historic route and an artistic project in public space. The mosaic technique takes account of the intended use outdoors.

Circular Trail between Sopravilla and Mezzovico

“Tra i mosaici in riva al Lario” is a circular hiking trail between Sopravilla and Mezzovico in Blevio. In Sopravilla, the circular trail follows a paved footpath that coincides with the historic Strada Regia. The circular trail also recommends a 200 m out-and-back route to the lakeside Church of Saints Epimaco and Gordiano. The 200 m additional route can be planned separately for a day that includes a church visit. The paved footpath in Sopravilla and the route to the church mark two different sections of the hike.

Caves and Erratic Boulders

The Grotta dei miti is a small grotto decorated with several bas-reliefs depicting epic stories. The Grotta dei putti is a small cave; the statuettes found there give it its name. The two caves therefore differ in their features: bas-reliefs define one, while statuettes define the other. Prea Nairöla is an erratic boulder recognised as a natural monument. Sasso del Lupo is another erratic boulder; the route reaches it after passing Monti di Sorto and Monti di Mezzovico. Sasso del Lupo thus follows the two Monti, while Prea Nairöla has the status of a natural monument.

Church Music and Lake Traditions

Since 1990, a series of organ concerts has been held in the ancient lakeside Church of Saints Gordiano and Epimaco. At Ristorante Momi in Blevio, chef Andrea Dotti draws on products and the local traditions of the lake for his dishes. At the church, the organ concert series is the focus; at Ristorante Momi, it is the connection between products and local lake traditions. The church and restaurant therefore highlight different aspects of Blevio: sacred music on the one hand, and dishes connected with the lake on the other.
