Vigolo reveals its character in the compact historic centre of this mountain village: rustic houses, paved lanes that rise and fall, and passages beneath arcades define the village. The Madonna di Loreto Sanctuary, also known as Madonna del Dosso, has a panoramic terrace overlooking the lake. The churches also create distinctive landmarks. San Rocco contains a valuable altar dedicated to Saint Anthony and was built after the plague of 1630 in thanksgiving for being spared the epidemic. The Madonna di Loreto Sanctuary was built in 1834 and contains frescoes. In the parish church of Santa Maria Assunta, Vigolo preserves paintings by A. Cifrondi as well as frescoes by U. Mirigliani and T. Poloni. There is also an altar made of black marble, created by the Bottega dei Manni di Rovio.

Monte Bronzone, forests and expansive views

Baita Gombo Alto lies on the northern slopes of Monte Bronzone within the municipality of Vigolo and forms part of a network of hiking trails connecting Vigolo with Monte Bronzone and the main surrounding ridges. A hike to the summit begins in the village centre and in the meadows of Vigolo. The Vigolo–Colle Cargadura Trail begins at an altitude of 620 metres above the car park by the town hall and climbs along an old mule track towards Recursone. Along the way, it crosses a spruce forest planted more than a century ago. In the valley along this trail, traditional mountain farming, focused on preserving the landscape, shapes the surroundings. The route from Bratta di Vigolo to Monte Bronzone reaches Colle Cargadura at 1,022 metres on the ridge separating Val di Vigolo from Val Fonteno. The hike to Monte Bronzone offers views of Lake Iseo, Monte Isola, Corna Trentapassi and Monte Guglielmo.

Routes for hiking, trekking and cycling

The 58-kilometre Strada Verde connects Vigolo with Tavernola Bergamasca and the Valle di Adrara. A two-kilometre section runs over unpaved terrain, initially follows steps and is suitable for experienced hikers. Vigolo 360 is a complete trekking route across the hills of Vigolo; it passes Baita Gombo Alto and returns to the starting point along the opposite side of the valley. The Percorso Giallo follows Trail 704 towards Giabella, then takes Trail 724 towards Monte Saresano and Pozza Alta, before returning towards Vigolo on Trail 701.

Dairy products, tastings and local tradition

During a visit to Latteria Bronzone, visitors are shown how milk is processed into cheese and other dairy products, including Stracchino Bronzone, ricotta, yoghurt and formagelle. The tour ends with a tasting of the products served on a platter, accompanied by a glass of Franciacorta. Visits to Latteria Bronzone are scheduled on Saturdays, with a time slot of approximately 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. The event “Camminando mangiando per i cortili” can be traced back to 2009.
