Water, fontanili and routes through the landscape

The Parco dei Fontanili di Fontanella is a protected natural area. Its name refers to the numerous springs and water outlets in the area. The areas with still-active fontanili also form near-natural habitats and give Fontanella a distinctly water-shaped character. On the Fontanella route, you reach the Naviglio Fontanella via Via Triulza, where small waterfalls can be seen.

For a more leisurely day of activity, the Fontanella circular route is a clearly defined option: it is very easy and completely flat. It includes a 1.5-kilometre unpaved section through the Fontanella countryside. For day planning, the 1.5-kilometre unpaved section can be treated as a separate part of the circular route. After Via Sorticelle, the Fontanella route joins the Ciclabile Fontanella. The different sections help you plan active hours and more relaxed discoveries to suit your travel pace.

Bell tower, church art and historic buildings

The Torre campanaria is a square bell tower dating from the 15th century. Its top is crowned with Gothic merlons. An inscription on the southern side gives 3 April 1453 as the beginning of its construction. Festivals with historical connections

On 13 August, Fontanella celebrates the patronal feast of San Cassiano. The Sagra di Fontanella commemorates the 1717 donation of a crucifix to the inhabitants of Fontanella; the crucifix is considered miraculous. The Sagra takes place on the fourth Sunday in October. The August date and the October date fall at different times of the year.
