Sala Baganza combines a historic castle with museum and concert culture, as well as nature experiences in a protected regional park. The Rocca Sanvitale, the exhibition at the Museo del Vino, the Pieve di Talignano and the Parco regionale dei Boschi di Carrega each offer a different focus; there is also a cycling route along the Baganza and a programme of events. This lets you plan your stay around culture and time outdoors. When looking for a holiday apartment, consider which of these themes you want to shape your days. Then compare specific locations with the visits you have planned, rather than deciding based only on a general impression of the area.

Rocca, museum and churches

The Rocca Sanvitale was built by the Sanvitale family in 1477. It houses the IAT tourist information office and the Biblioteca Comunale V. Preti. The historic building thus brings together a prominent part of the town’s history and two institutions connected with visitor information and local library life. The castle is therefore a tangible starting point for the cultural side of your stay; its history can be combined with other local themes, without every experience having to share the same focus.

The exhibition at the Museo del Vino is divided into six different sections. Wine therefore has its own museum theme in Sala Baganza, alongside the history of the castle and sacred sites. The Pieve di Talignano, dedicated to San Biagio, stands on a hill surrounded by vegetation.

Concerts and festivals

For twenty years, the A Tu per Tu concert series has presented high-quality concerts at the Oratorio dell'Assunta and, in summer, in the courtyard of the Rocca Sanvitale. For specific concert dates, check the programme for the relevant edition.

The Festival della Malvasia includes walk-around tastings with a glass around your neck, cooking shows, aperitifs, performances, exhibitions and guided masterclasses; activities may vary from one edition to another. If a particular event is central to your trip, check the dates for the relevant edition.

Park trails and cycling route

The protected Parco regionale dei Boschi di Carrega borders the built-up area of Sala Baganza. The park has short, easy-to-walk trails. They offer a compact nature experience for days when you want to spend time outdoors as well as enjoy cultural activities.

The Ciclovia lungo il Baganza runs from the centre of Sala Baganza beyond San Vitale Baganza, following a former forestry track along the stream. You can choose between different ways to get active: short walks in the park and a cycling route by the water. Construction work may temporarily affect access; check current conditions before setting out.

A suitable base for your stay

When looking for a holiday apartment in Sala Baganza, you can first decide whether cultural events or trails and cycling are to shape your stay. Then compare the locations of specific properties with your plans, so you can choose a base that suits the kind of day you prefer.
