La Banca: Routes over the Passes
Accommodation in Banca
La Banca, in Italy’s Emilia-Romagna region, is a starting point for mountain trails in the Borgo Val di Taro area. The documented routes differ considerably: a circular hike, routes over mountain passes, and a mountain biking trail. Choose a holiday apartment based on the exact starting point and your own fitness level.
Hiking over the passes
From La Banca, there is a 10.3-kilometre loop to Passo del Borgallo and the Valvenera chapel. Another option follows the SP39 to Passo del Brattello, where the Via degli Abati can be joined with the European long-distance trail E1 towards Passo della Cisa. These names refer to different sections of trail; combining them requires detailed maps, checking the weather, and realistic time planning. The historic Via dei Remi began in Borgo Val di Taro and ran through the Val Tarodine towards Levanto. Its history is not evidence of a fully marked holiday trail today starting from La Banca.
Mountain biking and the natural environment
The mountain biking route via Passo dei due Santi, Monte Spiaggi, and Passo del Borgallo reaches Passo dei due Santi after 15.7 kilometres. It also uses a forest track that motorcycles may use, and explores the descent from Monte Spiaggi to the Cascate Farfara waterfalls. Check the distance, gradient, traffic, and technical difficulty in advance; the route is not suitable for beginners as a matter of course. The regional WWF Ghirardi Oasis has a visitor centre in Pradelle-Porcigatone near Borgo Val di Taro, not directly in La Banca.
A holiday apartment as a base
Compare an actually available property based on its address in relation to your chosen trail, price, and amenities. Borgo Val di Taro’s accessibility via the A15 and the Parma–La Spezia railway describes the wider area, not necessarily the final leg to La Banca. Province: Parma.
