Lido Degli Estensi combines an exceptionally long beach with a maritime atmosphere, cycling experiences and excursions into the landscape of the Valli di Comacchio. This makes the town a starting point for very different kinds of holiday days: you can choose the beach as a fixed point of reference, explore new routes by bicycle or engage with history and regional culture.

Beach and Marina as Defining Points of Reference

Lido degli Estensi has one of the longest beaches in Italy. The beach is therefore an essential feature of the town for planning your trip and a clear deciding factor if you want to focus your stay on the coast. A holiday apartment or holiday home in Lido Degli Estensi may be particularly appealing if you are looking for a place from which to combine maritime impressions with excursions.

A second important point of reference is Marina degli Estensi. The modern, well-equipped marina can be reached via the canal from Porto Garibaldi. This gives the town another clearly recognisable aspect alongside its long beach: the marina represents access to the water and the connection with the port of Porto Garibaldi.

Cycling Routes to the Valli di Comacchio

Cyclists will find several specific connections. The Ponte dei Pelasgi links Lido degli Estensi and Lido di Spina via a combined cycle and pedestrian path. This means your trip planning can also include both towns, without limiting your stay to a single viewpoint or activity.

The “Dal mare alle Valli di Comacchio” route reaches the Valli di Comacchio shortly after leaving Lido degli Estensi. It begins at Lido degli Estensi near a ferry connection to Porto Garibaldi that carries pedestrians and bicycles. Another option is the “Anello Valli di Comacchio” route, which follows the promenade from Lido degli Estensi to the ferry connection to Porto Garibaldi. These two routes offer different perspectives on the connection between the sea, waterfront paths and the lagoon landscape. Which accommodation is right for you therefore also depends on whether you plan to make cycling tours a focus or combine them with quieter days at the beach and harbour.

Excursions into the Po Delta Landscape

Lido degli Estensi is a starting point for a tour of the six other Lidi di Comacchio. Excursions into the Parco del Delta del Po also begin here. This gives families and groups who enjoy discovering several aspects of a region a flexible choice of destinations: one day of the holiday can be devoted to the beach, another to the Valli di Comacchio or the Po Delta.

Culture and History in the Town

Lido degli Estensi also offers a specific point of interest culturally. The parish church dedicated to Saint Paul was designed by Bravetti from Cesena. It adds an architectural destination to the town’s natural and maritime attractions.

Another insight into the history of the surrounding area was provided during a cycling excursion on 4 June. Fortifications and bunkers in Porto Garibaldi and Lido degli Estensi were visited. The history of the Linea Gengis Khan and relics from the Second World War were also presented. Anyone who wants to include not only the landscape but also historical traces in a coastal holiday can take these subjects into account when planning their trip.
