The long white beach is Torre Mozza’s defining feature: it stretches along the coast for several kilometres, with very fine sand and crystal-clear water that gently slopes down. Anyone looking for a holiday apartment or holiday home in Torre Mozza will find a coastal landscape where relaxing days on the beach can be combined with nature watching, regional highlights and historical impressions.

Beach, dunes and varied coastal sections

Along the coast, private beach clubs, holiday villages and sections of free beach alternate. These differences may play a role in planning your trip: depending on how you wish to spend your day, you can choose an organised beach area or a section with free access. A chain of high sand dunes runs behind the beach. Covered in Mediterranean maquis, it separates the shore from the coastal road and the buildings along the promenade. As a result, in addition to its open sandy beach, Torre Mozza also has a clearly recognisable landscape of dunes and coastal vegetation.

A special option is Bau Beach in the town of Torre Mozza. It was established to enable people with pets to use the beach as well. To get there, follow the SP91 between Torre San Giovanni and Torre Vado to the Torre Mozza exit. Then continue towards the town centre of the marina and the tower; Bau Beach is located immediately behind a small bridge on the right-hand side. If you are travelling with a pet, this section of beach is therefore one of the specific points you can take into account when planning your holiday.

Sea and natural environment between Torre San Giovanni and Lido Marini

The stretch of sea between Torre San Giovanni and Lido Marini extends off Torre Mozza and contains the Oasi Blu “Secche di Ugento”. From the lighthouse of Torre San Giovanni to Torre Mozza, there are seven basins in the following order: Suddenna, Bianca, Ulmo, Rottacapozza Nord, Rottacapozza Sud, Spunderati Nord and Spunderati Sud. For visitors who want to experience coastal landscapes from more than just the beach, this sequence provides a concrete reference to the distinctive structure of this stretch of sea.

This natural environment also continues inland. The protected Litorale di Ugento Regional Nature Park extends along nine kilometres of coast between Torre San Giovanni and Lido Marini, passing through Torre Mozza. The Secche di Ugento shoals in this stretch of sea are also recognised as a Presidio Slow Food. In this way, the area combines beach, dunes, protected coast and a regional highlight, without requiring you to limit yourself to just one type of holiday experience.

Festivals and historical traces

The local festival culture includes the Sagra ta Turre, a recurring festival in Torre Mozza. Its eighth edition was announced for 2025 and was included in Ugento’s summer programme for 2025. The Torre Mozza, or rather the towers in question, are also of interest when placing the area in its historical context: their construction is dated to the 1560s, after the 1563 edict of Viceroy Don Pedro Afan de Rivera, regardless of whether they were the same tower or two different towers, as with many contemporary towers.

When choosing your accommodation in Torre Mozza, you can therefore consider which focus best suits your trip: long days on the beach, the landscape of the nature park, a stay with a pet, regional coastal highlights or the combination of sea and history. Torre Mozza offers a distinct coastal character and several themes that can be combined into different kinds of holiday days.
