Trabucco di Manaccora is one of Peschici’s fishing platforms that are still in operation and serves as a restaurant in summer, where freshly caught fish is served. On Punta Manaccora, the remains of a settlement with 66 huts have also been preserved; postholes and surrounding channels are visible.

Festivals, faith and local ties

The festival of Sant'Elia begins on 11 July with a novena. A solemn procession follows on 20 July. A special connection between the baking tradition and festival culture is reflected in the fact that throughout the year, bread bakers bring portions of dough to the baker. These are processed into and sold as more affordable loaves, with the proceeds benefiting the festival of Sant'Elia.

In Peschici, Madonna di Loreto has been celebrated for more than a hundred years on the second Monday after Easter. The festival includes a procession from Peschici to a church two kilometres from the town. The chapel of Madonna di Loreto contains maritime votive offerings: boats, sailing ships, oars and other seafaring equipment.

Plan time for Kàlena

Near Peschici, the Benedictine Abbey of Kàlena has two churches dedicated to Madonna delle Grazie. The abbey is currently closed to the public, except on 8 September. On this day, the chapter and local residents organise the “cammino verso Kàlena”, reciting the Rosary near the abbey.
