The Cappella di San Giacomo is also part of the local landscape: it can be reached from the main road via steps. This places another historic destination directly within the village structure, complementing the paths through meadows, forests and alpine landscapes.

Hiking destinations around Saint-Jacques

One notable hiking destination is Lago Blu. The hike begins in Saint-Jacques at an altitude of 1,689 metres, climbs 550 metres and takes just under two hours. Trail no. 7 leads via Fiéry and the lower Plan di Veraz. At the destination, the intensely turquoise water stands out; the Monte Rosa massif lies in the background.

On the same trail no. 7, a route from Saint-Jacques passes through the Plan di Veraz area and over a glacial moraine to the Rifugio Mezzalama mountain hut. This adds a more alpine hiking destination to Lago Blu.

The Anello Ferraro / Verra circular route also begins in Saint-Jacques and leads through Fiéry and the Piani di Verra. From here, there are broad yet close-up views of Monte Rosa. The route from Saint-Jacques to the Piani di Verra takes around three hours; the elevation gain is 364 metres to the lower plateau and 693 metres to the upper plateau.

More demanding route planning is represented by the route to Colle Superiore delle Cime Bianche. It is part of the Tour del Monte Rosa and reaches the pass in around four hours, with an elevation gain of 1,293 metres. At Colle della Bettaforca, views open up over the Ayas and Gressoney valleys. The hike there begins near the village church and follows trail no. 9 towards Résy and Rifugio Ferraro. The Sentiero Frassati also offers views of the Walser village of Resy.
