Pineto combines historic sites, unusual landscapes and active experiences to create a diverse destination. Between Villa Filiani, Parco Filiani and Torre del Cerrano, you can discover different sides of the town.

Culture between Villa Filiani and Torre del Cerrano

Villa Filiani was built in 1844 at the initiative of Giacinto Filiani. Today, it houses the Museo Etnomusicologico d’Abruzzo. The villa also hosts exhibitions, conferences and concerts throughout the year. It is therefore a place where architecture, regional musical culture and various event formats come together. When planning your day, check which of these offerings appeal to you most.

Another historic point of interest is Torre del Cerrano. The tower was built in 1568 and houses the library and the Museo del Mare. At Torre del Cerrano, the Adriatic cycle path connects Pineto and Silvi. This makes it possible to combine a cultural visit with an active outing, without limiting your stay to a single area of interest.

Pineto’s historic character also includes the thousand-year-old village of Mutignano, which is considered the historic centre of Pineto. The parish church of Pineto was built by the Filiani family between 1926 and 1935. Its design reflects an eclecticism combining the Romanesque style of Rome’s historic basilicas with Gothic elements. Families and other travellers who enjoy gathering different impressions can therefore make cultural discoveries with their own distinct focus.

Nature, Geology and Outdoor Experiences

Parco Filiani was created in the 1930s to rehabilitate an area affected by a clay quarry. Today, the park offers peaceful walks for exploring nature. It is also a habitat for kestrels, buzzards, green woodpeckers, tits, badgers, foxes and hedgehogs. Anyone wishing to plan a quieter day between cultural visits will find a nature-focused complement here.

An unusual geological feature is the Cenerone in the Pineto–Mutignano area. It is an active mud volcano. The clays it ejects originate from the Upper Pliocene and are approximately 1.7 to 2 million years old. The approximate age indicates that the site is interesting not only because of its visible landforms, but also because it offers an insight into the region’s geological history.

Adventure Park Cerrano is a high-ropes course offering adventurous activities for adults and children. This allows you to add an active experience to your stay, while Parco Filiani is more suited to peaceful nature exploration. In addition, Il Porto Sommerso is considered to be the ancient harbour of the city of Hadria, probably dating back to Roman times. The visible remains continue underwater for more than 500 metres from the shoreline.

Which Accommodation Fits Your Travel Plans

When searching for a holiday apartment in Pineto, you can therefore first decide which combination should shape your stay: historic buildings and museums, walks and wildlife observation, geological features, cycling or activities on a high-ropes course. The experiences mentioned offer different focal points and help make your own travel planning more specific. This allows you to choose accommodation in Pineto according to your personal interests, without reducing the town to just one type of holiday.
