Culture and History
Óvári kilátó was built in the 1900s on Balatonalmádi’s former vineyard hill from locally sourced red sandstone and acquired its present form in 2004. Óvári Messzelátó was also renovated in 2004. In clear weather, Óvári kilátó offers a panoramic view of Balatonalmádi and its surroundings.
The 6-kilometre-long Vörös Homokkő tanösvény introduces Balatonalmádi and its natural assets. It begins at the Pannonia Aqua statue, which symbolises Lake Balaton.
During the restoration of the Vörösberény Reformed Church from 1966 to 1968, its medieval windows were revealed again. According to the excavation findings, the fortified Reformed church “Erődített Református Templom” already existed in the 11th–12th century.
Nature
The Leánykökörcsines legelő area was placed under protection in autumn 2015. Nearly 120 plant species grow in the area, including 20 protected species.
