On the outskirts of Szakcs, a medieval earthwork castle site known as Leányvár is recorded.
In Szakcs, a heavily ploughed medieval earthwork castle is recorded on the southwestern edge of the village; the course of the earthwork is marked in the surrounding fields by a somewhat darker brown band.
The Leányvár site is located at the southeastern end of Szakcs.
Szakcs is described as being accessible from Dunaföldvár via Route 61 to Kocsola; from there, a western turn leads towards the settlement.
Historically, Szakcs was described as a populous market town in the northwestern part of Tolna County, on the border with the neighboring Somogy County.
At the beginning of February 1837, Austrian imperial lancers were stationed in Szakcs. This event has been passed down as a documented episode in the history of the settlement in the 19th century.
