Geographical Location

Ipolytölgyes lies on the left bank of the Ipoly, at the western foot of the Börzsöny, opposite Ipolykiskeszi. North of the village, the Ganádi-patak, also known as Cserge-patak, flows into the Ipoly.

History

Ipolytölgyes has a medieval settlement history: the predecessor settlement was located about two kilometres from the present-day village. An excavated village church from the Árpád period was built in the second half of the 13th century. Documents first mentioned the settlement in 1225 under the name Ság.

Nature

Almost half of Ipolytölgyes lies within the Duna–Ipoly National Park.

Getting There

Route 1201 runs through Ipolytölgyes in the Ipoly Valley and connects Szob with Parassapuszta; Szob is 14 kilometres away along this route.
