A castle replica with a film history, a nature trail covering cultural-historical and natural themes, and marked routes give Pilisborosjenő a multifaceted character. The sites and route descriptions offer different starting points for planning your trip: sometimes the story of a film project takes centre stage, sometimes a stop on a hillside or a route towards Kevély-nyereg. Before looking for a holiday rental, you can consider which of these themes interests you most.

A castle replica with a film history

The replica of Eger Castle lies on the southwestern slope of Nagy-Kevély, within the municipality of Pilisborosjenő. It is near Teve-szikla and the Országos Kéktúra. It was built in the 1960s for the filming of Egri csillagok. This purpose gives the structure a distinctive historical connection: it is a film set whose history is linked to a specific film project. Visitors interested in cultural history will therefore find a different way to engage with the landscape here than through a route or a nature-themed attraction.

Kálvária and Kevélyhegyi Tanösvény

Kálvária is a stop on the Kevélyhegyi Tanösvény, on the 278-metre-high Vendel-hegy within the municipality of Pilisborosjenő. Its stations and crosses were made from Hárshegyi sandstone and funded by donations from village residents. The material and funding tell different parts of its story: the sandstone points to the construction method, while the donations reflect the contribution of the villagers. Kálvária brings these local details together with its role as a stop on the nature trail.

The Kevélyhegyi Tanösvény was completed in spring 2008 and is about 10 kilometres long. It leads to cultural-historical and natural features in Pilisborosjenő and its surroundings. At each stop, information boards describe the respective features and values of the places in detail. So the nature trail is about more than just covering a distance: its boards draw attention to what is noteworthy at each stop. For planning purposes, a clear distinction can be made: Kálvária is a specific place on the nature trail, while the trail brings together the different themes of its stops.

Marked routes and rocky landscapes

A yellow-marked route towards Kevély-nyereg begins in the centre of Pilisborosjenő, on Templom utca. A blue-marked cycling route also starts in the centre, on the former Roman road. The descriptions distinguish the routes by their markings and use; the cycling route is specifically designated for cyclists. Before setting out, check the current route markings so that your plans match the routes on the ground.

Nearby, the yellow marking from Pilisborosjenő passes below Gyopáros-barlang. A blue route also runs below the cave, above Teve-sziklák. Gyopáros-barlang is freely accessible. Another notable landscape feature is the quarry rock face near Teve-szikla, which displays impressive geological formations; there is a view from its upper edge. These features offer different points of interest: the routes provide orientation by marking and direction, while the rock face draws attention to geological formations.

If you would like to base your holiday rental search on a named starting point, the centre of the village, where the routes begin, provides a specific reference for planning your day. Compare the location of a particular offer with the routes you want to use. Whether you are most interested in the film history, the stops on the nature trail or the marked routes will determine which of these themes matters most for your stay.
