Páty’s Pincehegy is a cellar and press-house district extending along several streets, with around 250 cellars; the oldest buildings date back to 1805. Along several streets, the press houses form continuous rows, and numerous original gates and doors have been preserved.
Anyone choosing Páty as a holiday destination may want to find or rent a holiday apartment.
Culture and History
The Reformed congregation of Páty already existed in the early 17th century. The oldest surviving liturgical object of the Reformed church is a chalice made in Komárom in 1668. Páty’s late Baroque Reformed church was probably completed in 1783 and still shapes the townscape today.
The former manor house was built around 1820 by the Scottish Benedictines from Budajenő to oversee their properties in Páty. Today, the former manor house serves as the village community centre and houses the local history collection. It comprises almost 1,000 objects, is continuously expanded and is occasionally presented to the village population. The small open-air museum attached to the local history collection displays production equipment and machinery.
The listed Church of St Imre in Páty is a Zopf-style church built between 1778 and 1780; it was renovated in 2022.
The Páty Cellar Days are the longest-running free festival in the surrounding area and will also take place in 2026, as usual in mid-June, at Pincehegy.
Landscape and Wine
Páty’s Pincehegy lies on a loess-covered hill above the village gardens; this location made it possible to build cellars. Grapes historically grown on the southern slopes of Páty were used to produce a quality wine that became known as “Pátyi” or “Budai Vörös”.
