Culture and History
The ruins of Buják Castle are located 2 km north of the town on a 310 m-high summit rising from a north–south-running valley of the Cserhát.
Bézma, Barát-hegy, Tepke and Dobogó-tető are located in the area surrounding Buják.
The castle grounds can be visited, although they are located within a military area of the Hungarian Defence Forces. For visitors interested in historic sites, the accessible castle grounds are a suitable destination.
Buják Castle is an incompletely excavated hilltop castle ruin.
The castle’s well-known stonework points to the late 15th century; the outer ring wall, a large rondel and the contemporary gate complex are associated with construction work around 1550.
