Forró is located in the Hernád Valley, criss-crossed by smaller watercourses, and on the eastern edge of the Cserehát. For centuries, the town was an important stop on the military and trade route between Buda and Kassa; main road 3 also runs through Forró.

Culture
The Kakas Csárda is a Baroque inn built in the 18th century and also served as a post station. The Church of the Assumption of Mary in Forró is dedicated to the Assumption of Mary into Heaven. Part of the surviving church may have been built in the 14th century; medieval stylistic elements can be recognized on the exterior façade.
The collection area of the Abaúji Múzeum extends across nearly 80 settlements; the Hernád Valley and the Cserehát region are particular focal points. The folk textiles are considered the most significant part of the Abaúji Múzeum’s collection and represent part of the region’s folk culture.
History
The British Museum lists a damaged spiral ornament made of copper alloy from the Bronze Age, whose findspot is Forró or the Forró hoard. The wines from Forró were also historically known beyond the immediate surrounding area.
