The Szabadság Cave, discovered in 1954 at the foot of Pitics-hegy, made Égerszög known throughout the country. It is the third-longest fluvially eroded cave in the Aggtelek Karst. The cave is not accessible to tourists.

Culture
The present-day Reformed Church of Égerszög was built in 1791 in the late Baroque style. Its 24-metre-high tower was built in 1929 in the eclectic style at the centre of the southern longitudinal wall.
Old, carved wooden grave markers have been preserved in the cemetery of Égerszög. Their forms vary according to the age and sex of the deceased.
Nature
The 456-metre-high Pitics-hegy rises next to Égerszög and is the highest point of the hilly Galyaság region. An old metal lookout tower stands at its summit, offering views of the surrounding slopes.
The Aggteleki-cseppkőbarlang Cave, the Baradla-Caves Cave and Poronya-teto Mountain are located in the vicinity of Égerszög. Settlements such as Égerszög are also part of Aggtelek National Park.
