The Wealden Heaths National Nature Reserve, designated in 2025, connects the existing Thursley NNR with 2,440 hectares of the surrounding landscape. It is home to all six native reptile species, natterjack toads and three bird species designated as SPAs. Hindhead Commons and the Devil's Punch Bowl are also designated as Sites of Special Scientific Interest, or SSSIs.

Box Hill combines panoramic views with ancient woodland, chalk downland, farmland and riverside landscapes. Box Hill also has a two-mile nature trail through the woodland, with opportunities for balancing, climbing and exploring.

Trails

Leith Hill offers trails through woodland, heathland and farmland with exceptional views. Leith Hill Tower offers views towards London and the English Channel and stands at the highest point in South East England. The long-distance Greensand Way runs past Leith Hill Tower for a distance of 1.5 miles.

Leith Hill is approximately 2.5 miles (4 km) from Holmwood railway station, 4 miles (6.4 km) from Ockley railway station and 5.5 miles (9 km) from Dorking railway station. The Hidden Hindhead walking trail is 3.1 miles long. The Downs Link is a largely traffic-free, 37-mile route along a disused railway line from St Martha's near Guildford to Shore-by-Sea. The North Downs Way is a long-distance trail in Surrey.

Culture

Leith Hill Place is associated with the composer Ralph Vaughan Williams and has connections to the Wedgwood family. Polesden Lacey is a 1,600-acre estate in Surrey with elegant gardens and an Edwardian mansion. Hatchlands Park encompasses extensive parkland surrounding a classical country house in Surrey. Winkworth Arboretum features a seasonally changing collection of trees, a lake, a boathouse and ancient woodland.

Guildford Castle is a Norman castle; its tower can be climbed and offers extensive views across Guildford and Surrey.
