Medieval ditches and earthworks belonging to the village of Henham were visible there in aerial photographs of Wangford with Henham. A church at the site of the village of Henham is also recorded on Sexton's map of 1576. These clues make the local history tangible without reducing Henham to a single historic monument.

On the access road from Wangford Lodge, the route passes through the parkland into Tuttles Wood and then returns through the parkland.
