In the immediate vicinity of Thoiry is the Pointe de la Galoppaz, a summit approximately 1,681 metres high. From there, panoramic views extend to Mont Blanc, the Belledonne range and prominent peaks of the Bauges Massif: Colombier, Trélod and Arcalod. The Pointe de la Galoppaz is also a place for observing the small mountain owl species and a preferred location for studying the Apollo butterfly.

Culture and History
The area known as Moulin Pachoud on both sides of the Leysse between the municipalities of Saint-Jean d’Arvey and Thoiry is a site of industrial history with a mill, an icehouse facility, a martinet and a forge. The Ancienne glacière de la Rippe had been one of nine icehouse facilities for storing ice since the 18th century. The ice stored there was subsequently separated into pieces and sold in Chambéry and Aix-les-Bains.
The Artothèque de Chambéry, a museum, Les Charmettes, a historic site, and the Abbaye du Betton, a historic site, are located in the vicinity of Thoiry. In the wider regional surroundings of Thoiry is Fort Barraux, a fortress.
