Mont-de-Lans is located in the Massif de l’Oisans on the edge of the Écrins National Park, at an altitude of 1,285 metres. Mountain scenery, village history and paths through the surrounding area come together here.

Geographical setting
At the Chambon dam, a turn-off from the D213 leads directly to Mont-de-Lans and the resort of Les Deux Alpes; from this resort, Mont-de-Lans can be reached by the Mont de Lans chairlift or a free shuttle.
Culture and history
In the centre of the village of Mont-de-Lans is Chasal Lento, a museum and café dedicated to discovering the local heritage. It presents the history of the people from the region, including the Roman era and the time of the colporteurs, the construction of the Chambon dam and the early years of Les Deux Alpes.
The Porte romaine de Bons and the associated remains of the Roman road were listed as historic monuments by decree of 18 April 2014. The remains beside this structure form part of a continuous longer section of the Roman road across the Lautaret. The arched structure was carved from chlorite schist above the Romanche. The hamlet of Bons also has a chapel dating from 1893.
Nature
The walk to the Croix du Sert above the village leads to a panoramic view over the Romanche valley, Lac du Chambon and the surrounding mountains. The viewpoint can be reached on foot from the village in less than ten minutes.
Village life and trails
Rando'Nature et Patrimoine is a guided discovery hike on the Mont-de-Lans slope, presenting the local fauna, flora and the history of the village. The guided route leads to the Chasal Lento café-museum in the village of Mont-de-Lans.
The small market in the village of Mont-de-Lans takes place every Wednesday morning on the square in front of the town hall. In addition to fruit and vegetables, it offers mountain produce and small handicrafts.
In Le Ponteil, former access roads are now hiking trails.
